Skagit Land Trust Reads

November 9 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Skagit Land Trust Reads is back! Join us in celebrating Native American Heritage Month as we explore books focused on two Coast Salish women.

One inspirational gal is Vi Hibert, an elder of the Upper-Skagit Tribe who “profoundly impacted a culture, a history, the longevity of a language, and even the larger world.”

The other inspirational lady is her namesake and great-granddaughter, Sasha LaPointe, who has written a book full of self-discovery and healing as she “explores her own truth of indigenous identity on the Coast Salish territory.”

Feel free to read either or both books! We will meet via Zoom to discuss!

The following are the books to be discussed:

1. Where the Language Lives: Vi Hilbert and the Gift of Lushootseed – Janet Yoder

2. Red Paint: The Ancestral Autobiography of a Coast Salish Punk – Sasha LaPointe
