Community Blessing Initiative Center

The CBIC building is an extension of Mount Baker Presbyterian Church. It’s a drop-in center for folks to access lots of services like laundry, showers, rides to essential appointments, some food, toiletries, and peer advocacy for all of their needs.

CBIC partners with Didgwalic Wellness Center of the Swinomish tribe to offer medically assisted drug treatment, mental health treatment, and rides to other associated services.

Kay Knott is an elder in the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe. She was raised in the Skagit Valley, receiving her BA from Western Washington University.

She is a parent and grandparent and served as a foster parent for 15 years. She served as the Executive Director of the Inter-tribal Housing Authority, directed the Big Brothers, Big Sisters programs, and served as the Director of Youthnet Foster Care. She established and ran a Pregnancy and Parenting Teen program.
She served on the Indian Child Welfare Advisory Board for ten years and as a board member for the National Indian Housing Board. She continues to work to celebrate and recover Upper Skagit traditions, relationships, and ways.

Danielle Riley is an indigenous woman and a member of the Cherokee Nation. She serves as a commissioned pastor at Mount Baker Presbyterian Church in the PC (USA) and Director of Operations for their opioid outreach program and CBIC building. She serves alongside her husband, Kevin, focusing on creating programs and support in their community that help the most marginalized and underserved.

Her academic work focuses on the intersection between Christian theology, Cherokee spirituality, tradition, and culture. Danielle lives with her husband, three young children, and many pets in Sedro-Woolley, WA.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Theology and Culture, with a focus on Community Development and intersectional studies, from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. Service begins at 10:30 a.m.
