It is said, when faced with almost certain defeat, the Tuatha De Danann, a people in Ireland devoted to beauty, artistry and intelligence assembled in full and beautiful dress, flags moving in the wind, and as the enemy surged toward them, turned sideways into the light and disappeared. They did not vanish in defeat–they refused to fight in ways requiring them to become something lesser than themselves in order to survive. What did they do on the other side?
