The One Family of Humanity
The topic I plan to speak on is the recognition that all humanity is one family, albeit with different cultures, languages, religions and beliefs. Developing relationships with those who are different from us is key to a deeper understanding of what it is to be human and to learn to live in peace.
D’vorah Kost retired from a social work career in 2014, and proceeded to go on humanitarian missions to serve refugees of war, which included Syrians, Palestinians, and Ukrainians. She taught tools and practices to reduce stress and heal trauma, to include yoga, breath work, Reiki, and creative play with children. When the Hamas-Israel war began on Oct. 7th ’23, she knew the lives of her Gazan friends would be turned upside down, and was determined to support them in any way she could. She has recently returned from her 5th trip to Cairo, to where 100,000 Gazans have fled from the war. She is here to share what she has learned.
